Lamina Orchestral Textures is a Kontakt Player virtual instrument from Impact Soundworks designed for composers who want orchestral beds that feel alive rather than over-polished. Created in collaboration with the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the library captures four chamber ensembles — High Strings, Low Strings, High Winds, and Low Winds — performing improvised articulations inspired by the natural movement of water. The result is an immersive canvas of human performance that sits comfortably under dialogue, picture, or in standalone ambient pieces.

What Makes This Library Different

Unlike traditional orchestral libraries built around sterile sustains and staccatos, this collection is built around four evocative articulations: Ripples, Tides, Drifts, and Flares (trills with M2, m3, and M3 variations). Each was recorded for an extended period on a single note, so the performances evolve naturally over time with subtle ebb and flow. A bonus bank of 25+ designed textures was sculpted by composers and sound designers using analog and digital outboard gear, including a large Eurorack setup, bridging the gap between traditional orchestra and modern cinematic synthetics.

Lamina Orchestral Textures is the brainchild of composer AviShai Dayanim, developed in collaboration with performance students, recording arts students, and Music for New Media students from the Peabody Conservatory of Music — one of America's oldest music institutions with a 150+ year history. The library combines the energy of these young creators with Impact Soundworks' production expertise, drawing on the company's catalog trusted by composers working on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Mass Effect, and Overwatch 2.
