Pro-Arte Single Replacement String for Classical Guitar

The D'Addario J4406 Pro-Arte is a single replacement string designed specifically for the low E (6th) position on classical guitar. It matches the 6th string in D'Addario's EJ44 Pro-Arte Extra-Hard Tension set, so a player can swap out a worn or broken bass string without buying a full set. Construction uses a silver-plated copper round-wound winding over a nylon core, which gives the bass register a bright, focused voice with a strong fundamental. At .045" gauge, this single sits at the heavier end of the Pro-Arte tension range — built for players who want extra volume and resistance under the right hand.

Who It's For

The J4406 is the right choice for classical guitarists already running the EJ44 Pro-Arte Extra-Hard Tension set who need a single replacement for the low E. It suits players who prefer a heavier tension for stronger projection and a more resistant feel under the fingers, especially in solo or recital settings where volume matters. The tie-end matches traditional classical guitar bridge installation, and the silver-plated copper winding keeps the bass response clear and well-defined. Anyone building a custom tension set — for example, mixing extra-hard basses with normal-tension trebles — can drop this single in to dial in their preferred feel without buying a full set.
