Gretsch Drums Renegade 20 Ruby Sparkle Drumkit

Complete 5-Piece Drum Kit Ready to Play Out of the Box

The Gretsch Renegade 20 Ruby Sparkle answers a simple question: what does a drummer need to start playing on day one? This 5-piece acoustic kit ships with every component required — drums, hardware, cymbals, sticks, and a throne — eliminating the guesswork of building a setup piece by piece. At its core, poplar shells deliver a warm, balanced tonal character that adapts to rock, pop, funk, and beyond. The Renegade 20 Ruby Sparkle is the right choice for first-time drummers and developing players who need a reliable, complete setup at an accessible price point.

What Makes the Renegade Stand Out

What separates this kit from other entry-level packages is the inclusion of Gretsch's Classic Full Range lugs and the iconic Gretsch logo on the bass drumhead — design touches usually reserved for higher-tier kits. Triple-flanged steel hoops add resonance and sustain, while the chrome hardware pack is built for stability and easy adjustment. Every component ships in the box, so there's no waiting for additional stands or cymbals.

5-Piece Poplar Shell Configuration

Built around a 5-piece configuration, the Renegade 20 gives players a full sonic range without overwhelming a beginner. Poplar wood offers a balanced tonal character — warm low end, clear midrange, and controlled highs — adaptable to many styles from rock and pop to funk and gospel.

• Bass Drum: 508 x 356 mm (20" x 14") — delivers a punchy, full low-end foundation suitable for rock, pop, and funk
• Rack Toms: 254 x 178 mm (10" x 7") and 305 x 203 mm (12" x 8") — compact and mid-range voices for high-pitched accents and melodic fills
• Floor Tom: 356 x 305 mm (14" x 12") — deep, resonant voice for powerful tom fills and thunderous crescendos

Complete Hardware Pack and Brass Cymbals Included

The Renegade ships with a full hardware set plus cymbals — no extra purchases required. Chrome-plated stands are designed for stability and easy adjustment, while the included brass cymbals give new drummers a functional setup from the very first session behind the kit.

• Hi-Hat: 330 mm (13") — brass hi-hat pair for tight chick sounds and rhythmic timekeeping
• Crash/Ride: 381 mm (15") — dual-purpose brass cymbal that covers both crash accents and ride patterns
• Hardware Pack: Bass drum pedal, hi-hat stand, snare stand, straight cymbal stand, and drum throne — everything needed to assemble and play

Shell Construction and Finish Details

Construction details go beyond typical entry-level expectations. Triple-flanged steel hoops, a wrapped Ruby Sparkle finish, and chrome hardware combine durability with stage-ready visual appeal that holds up to regular practice and transport.

• Shell Material: Poplar — warm, balanced tone with good sustain across all five drums
• Hoops: Triple-flanged steel — enhances resonance and sustain while protecting the drumheads
• Hardware Finish: Chrome — durable, corrosion-resistant finish on all stands and fittings

Ideal for Beginners and Developing Drummers

This kit is designed for first-time drummers, students, and returning players who want a complete setup without sourcing individual components. It fits home practice, music lessons, school bands, and jam sessions. The 20" bass drum offers a balanced compromise between an 18" kit's compact feel and a 22" kit's full projection — manageable for younger players while still delivering a satisfying low-end punch. For anyone who needs a ready-to-play acoustic drum kit with genuine Gretsch design DNA at an entry-level price, the Renegade 20 Ruby Sparkle is the right choice.
