D'Addario XSNW046 XS Nickel Plated Steel Single Electric Guitar String

The D'Addario XSNW046 is a single .046" electric guitar string from the XS Nickel Plated Steel lineup, built as a drop-in replacement or as a building block for a custom gauge set. It uses a reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire over a steel core, finished with D'Addario's ultra-thin XS film coating that the brand describes as giving the longest life of any electric string in their catalogue. The round-wound construction preserves the bright, articulate response nickel-plated steel is known for, while the coating keeps the playing feel smooth and fast under the fingers. Made in the USA at D'Addario's New York production facility, this single string fits any standard electric guitar with ball-end hardware.

Who It's For

The XSNW046 is the right choice for electric guitar players who need a single replacement .046" string or want to assemble a custom gauge set from the XS series. It suits players across all genres who want the bright, cutting tone of nickel-plated steel with the extended lifespan of a coated string — useful for gigging musicians, recording sessions, and anyone who simply wants to change strings less often. Because it shares the same construction as the rest of the XS Electric line, it pairs cleanly with other XS singles for a balanced custom set.
