XS Nickel Plated Steel Single String for Electric Guitar

The D'Addario XSNW038 is a single .038" gauge electric guitar string from the XS Nickel Plated Steel line, designed as a drop-in replacement or as a building block for a custom gauge set. Its reformulated nickel plated steel wrap delivers the bright, articulate tone that D'Addario's nickel strings are known for, while the round wound construction provides the familiar feel and response players expect from a standard electric string. The XS film coating — an ultra-thin layer applied to every string in the series — extends tonal life well beyond uncoated equivalents, so the string keeps its snap through long sessions and heavy playing. Made in the USA at D'Addario's New York production facility, this single string carries a ball end for compatibility with virtually any standard electric guitar bridge.

Who It's For

The XSNW038 is the right choice for electric guitar players who need a single replacement string at .038" gauge — typically the G string position on a standard 6-string set — without buying a full pack. It suits players who sweat heavily during gigs, gigging musicians who want fewer string changes, and anyone building a custom gauge set that mixes light top strings with heavier bottom strings. The nickel plated steel wrap works across rock, blues, country, pop and jazz contexts, and the ball end fits virtually any standard electric guitar bridge including tune-o-matic, hardtail and through-body designs. Beginners and experienced players alike benefit from the XS coating's extended life, which keeps the string sounding fresh far longer than an uncoated equivalent.
