D'Addario PL009-5 — Five .009 Plain Steel Singles for Electric Guitar

This 5-pack supplies five individual .009 gauge plain steel strings, the standard high E position on most electric guitar setups. Plain steel — unwound, just a single drawn steel wire — produces the bright, articulate treble response that cuts through a mix in rhythm playing and adds clarity to lead lines. Each string is manufactured on D'Addario's proprietary, digitally controlled machinery in the U.S.A., holding tight diameter and tension tolerances string after string. Buying singles in a 5-pack means a fresh high E is always within reach when the thinnest string on the guitar inevitably snaps mid-session. The bulk format also suits players who mix gauges to build hybrid sets, replacing only the plain strings that wear out fastest.

Who It's For

This 5-pack is the right choice for electric guitar players who need a dependable .009 high E replacement without buying a full string set. Beginners benefit most — the .009 plain steel is the thinnest string on a standard electric and the first to break during the early stages of learning bends, tuning, and string changes. Intermediate players who experiment with hybrid or custom gauge combinations can stock up on just the plain strings they need, keeping spares in the gig bag for fast swaps on stage. The bright, cutting character of plain steel suits rock, blues, country, pop, and funk, where the high E needs to ring clear above the rest of the band. As a Made in the U.S.A. product from one of the world's largest string manufacturers, quality stays consistent from the first string to the fifth.
