D'Addario NYXL .074 — Replacement Electric Guitar String with Enhanced Mid-Range Punch

The D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound .074 single string brings the high-output characteristics of the NYXL series to players who need a single replacement or want to build a custom gauge set. Made in the USA with reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire around a hex core, this round-wound string delivers enhanced mid-range frequency response in the 1–3.5 kHz range for more presence and crunch. It is designed specifically for electric guitar, offering improved tuning stability and break resistance compared to traditional nickel wound strings. The .074 gauge makes it a standard low E replacement for most 6-string electric guitar sets, and it also works as a custom tuning option for 7-string players seeking a heavier bottom end.

It suits rock, blues, and metal players who want their low end to cut through a dense mix without sacrificing tuning stability. The hex core construction and reformulated nickel-plated steel make it ideal for players who do heavy bending or aggressive picking and need a string that resists breakage. It also works well for guitarists building custom gauge sets who want to mix and match individual strings from the NYXL line.
