NYXL Single Electric Guitar String — Enhanced Mid-Range and Tuning Stability

The D'Addario NYXL NYNW062 is a single .062" gauge nickel-plated steel electric guitar string from the enhanced NYXL string series. It uses a reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire wound over a hex core, engineered to deliver higher output and greater midrange frequency response in the 1–3.5 kHz range compared to traditional nickel wound strings. The round wound construction produces a bright, present tone with strong attack, while the proprietary core wire offers improved tuning stability so the string reaches pitch faster and holds it longer. Sold individually, this single string works as a direct replacement for a broken or worn low string, or as a building block for players who want to assemble a custom gauge set.

Who Is It For

The NYXL NYNW062 is the right choice for electric guitar players who need a reliable .062" replacement string or want to customize their string gauges. The .062 gauge works well as the low A on a standard 6-string guitar tuned down a whole step, or as the 7th string on a 7-string guitar in standard tuning — a verified buyer on Guitar Center specifically praised it for 7-string metal applications, noting "rock solid tuning with minimal stretching required." Players who bend strings aggressively will appreciate the NYXL series' reputation for break resistance, as one user reported bending up to two full steps without snapping. The enhanced mid-range frequency response makes this string well-suited for rock and metal styles where cutting through the mix matters.
