D'Addario NW023 Single Electric Guitar String

The D'Addario NW023 is a single .023" gauge electric guitar string from the brand's best-selling XL Nickel Wound series, wound with nickel-plated steel in a round-wound pattern for a bright, articulate voice. Sold as an individual replacement rather than a full set, this string is the go-to choice when one wire breaks, when a player wants to swap a single position, or when building a custom gauge set that doesn't match any off-the-shelf option. The nickel-plated steel wrap delivers the cutting top-end and clear note definition that have made the XL line a studio and stage staple for decades. Made in the USA at D'Addario's New York production facility, each string is engineered to the same tolerances as the strings inside every factory-sealed XL pack.

Who It's For

The NW023 is the right choice for electric guitar players who need a reliable .023" replacement string without buying a full new set. It suits the G-string slot on common light and regular-light gauge sets such as 9-42, 10-46, and 11-49, making it a practical spare to keep in a gig bag for emergency swaps mid-show. The round-wound nickel-plated steel construction pairs naturally with rock, blues, country, and pop styles where bright, cutting tone matters, and the coated finish helps the string last longer for players who sweat heavily or gig frequently. Whether restocking after a broken high string, experimenting with hybrid gauge sets, or dialing in a specific tension for a floating-bridge guitar, this single string covers the need.
